Kakii lets runners record routes, race courses and contribute to Nation Battle. Kakii Technologies Pte Ltd is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact our privacy contact at contact@kakii.app.
Accounts, including guests
A guest receives a random account identifier. Runs and progress associated with that identifier are personal data even without an email address. Adding email or Apple sign-in lets you return to that account on another device. Our authentication provider handles passwords; we do not receive your Apple password. We record confirmation that you are at least 16, the privacy notice and terms version you acknowledged, and when you acknowledged them. We do not collect your date of birth or a separate country of residence.
The data we use and why
- Profile and competition. Display name, avatar, age bracket, gender bracket and the nation you choose support profiles, race categories and Nation Battle. Your chosen nation represents your team, not proof of citizenship or residence. Use a nickname rather than your real name if you prefer.
- Location and activity. With device permission, Kakii uses your location to find nearby tracks and show your position. During a run or course recording it collects GPS coordinates and timing, including while the screen is locked. We store submitted routes, times, distance, elevation, motion evidence used to validate runs, results and progress. Background recording is tied to an active recording, not continuous background location tracking.
- Published content. Tracks, names, tips, reviews and ratings you publish are visible to other runners. Public course maps expose their route and start/end points. Avoid publishing routes that identify your home or sensitive places. Leaderboards and public profiles display competition information such as your display name, avatar, nation, level, category and results. Your account email and private run traces are not public.
- Purchases. Apple handles payment. RevenueCat processes an app customer identifier, purchase/receipt information and subscription status to deliver Club access. Kakii stores the entitlement and related subscription identifiers. We do not receive your payment-card details.
- Notifications. If enabled, we use an Apple push token, device installation identifier, notification choices and event history to deliver the alerts you select. Notification permissions can be changed in system settings.
- Safety and support. We handle blocks, reports, privacy requests and correspondence to respond to you, moderate content and keep the service secure. Hosting and authentication services also process operational information such as request times and IP addresses needed to deliver and secure the service.
- Waitlist. If you join our waitlist, we use the email and other details you submit to manage that request. You can ask us to remove them without creating an app account.
Optional analytics starts off
PostHog analytics runs only after you choose to enable it in Settings. It receives a limited set of product milestones and technical context such as app/OS version, device type, locale, time zone and screen size. Kakii sends a new random analytics identifier for each app launch, disables person profiles and geolocation enrichment, and does not send account IDs, names, emails, GPS routes, Health data or free text to PostHog. Network services necessarily receive connection information, including IP addresses. We do not claim that all technical data is legally anonymous.
Declining analytics does not restrict the app. You can withdraw permission in Settings → Privacy & safety → Optional analytics. Your choice and its date are stored on that device. Withdrawal stops future collection and does not undo processing that already occurred. Because analytics is not linked to your account, an account export cannot identify these separate session events. Contact us if you need help with an analytics request.
Apple Health is optional
With the permissions you grant through Apple Health, Kakii can save workouts, running distance, active energy and workout routes, display heart rate, read workout/energy information and use body mass for a fallback energy estimate. Phone and Watch can exchange workout information to support a run. HealthKit data is handled on your devices and in Apple Health; Kakii does not upload HealthKit heart-rate, body-mass or energy readings to its backend, RevenueCat or PostHog. GPS routes and activity measurements independently recorded for Kakii racing are submitted as described above.
We do not use Health data for advertising or marketing. Manage or revoke permissions in Apple Health/system settings. Workouts already saved to Apple Health remain under your control and must be deleted there separately.
Purposes and legal grounds
Where a law requires a legal basis, we use account, route and competition information as needed to provide the features you request and perform our agreement with you. We rely on consent for optional analytics and permission-based optional Health integration, and legitimate interests for proportionate security, fraud prevention and moderation, subject to your rights. We may retain records required by law. Acknowledging this notice is not blanket consent to optional processing. We do not sell personal data, run advertising trackers, or make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing. Automated race validation and scoring can be questioned through support.
Providers and international processing
Supabase hosts the account and race database in Sydney, Australia. PostHog provides our configured EU analytics service; RevenueCat manages subscriptions; Apple provides the App Store, push notifications and Health integrations. Providers and their subprocessors may process information in other countries. We share information necessary for these services, to meet legal obligations, or to address misuse and security incidents. You can ask us about applicable transfer safeguards and the providers handling your information. App Store availability does not remove privacy rights that apply to you.
Retention and deletion
We keep account data and submitted content while needed to provide your account and the features you use. Settings → Delete account removes the live account and associated profiles, runs, created tracks, reviews, preferences and privacy acknowledgments. Erasing a created track can also remove results attached to that track. Verified-email waitlist entries matching the account are removed too; contact us about entries under another email.
Deletion also queues a request to remove the linked RevenueCat customer. This is processed separately and retried if the provider is unavailable. The queue retains the necessary vendor identifier until cleanup succeeds, then removes it immediately; identifier-free completion records are purged after seven days. Completed in-app privacy requests are purged after 90 days, or sooner with account deletion. Open requests remain until resolved. Notification events are removed after expiry plus 30 days.
Limited copies may remain temporarily in restricted provider backups and security logs until their retention cycle expires, or where a legal obligation requires retention. They are not part of the active app account. Contact us for the retention details relevant to a request. Deleting Kakii data does not delete Apple's independent transaction records, cancel a subscription, or erase workouts from Apple Health. Cancel Club separately in Apple subscription settings.
Your choices and rights
Guests and signed-in runners can use Settings → Your data & privacy to download account data as JSON, including route geometry, and submit access, correction, restriction, objection or erasure requests. The same tools remain available before the privacy acknowledgment screen is completed. Edit your profile in Settings or delete the account directly. An export contains private location data: store it securely.
You may also email contact@kakii.app, including if you cannot access an account or need additional operational records. We may request proportionate information to verify that a request concerns you; do not send passwords or identity documents unless we specifically explain why they are needed. We aim to respond within one calendar month and follow any shorter applicable deadline. If an applicable law allows extra time or an exception, we will explain it. These rights can have legal limits. You may complain to the data-protection authority where you live or another competent authority.
Age and availability
Kakii is for people aged 16 and over, including guests. We do not knowingly offer accounts to younger children. Contact us if you believe someone under 16 has an account. Some regions are not included in our initial App Store release; this does not prevent an existing user from requesting access to or deletion of their data.
Changes and contact
Material changes will be presented in the app with an updated notice version. Privacy questions, requests and complaints: Kakii Technologies Pte Ltd, contact@kakii.app.
